Doctrinal Statement

WHAT WE BELIEVE

The Sole basis for our belief is the Bible

We believe in the inspiration and inerrancy of the Bible.

We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ.

We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, and that Jesus voluntarily paid for our sin by dying on the cross as our substitute.  This accomplished salvation for all who trust in Christ alone and receive the free gift of eternal life.

We believe in Jesus Christ’s bodily resurrection.

We believe in Jesus Christ’s imminent premillennial return to earth.

We believe in the Trinity of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  These three are one in essence, but distinct in person and function.

We believe that God created man in His image, but man chose sinfulness and fell from grace.  As a result, all men are sinners, not by constraint alone, and must accept God’s grace through Jesus Christ to be saved.

We believe that lost people matter to God, and therefore, ought to matter to the church.

We believe in an eternal heaven for the saved and an eternal hell for the lost.

We believe that every Christian should tithe (at least ten percent) on their income to the Lord through the local church.  Tithing on your time, talent, and monies ought to be given back to God as an act of dedication and love to Jesus Christ.  Giving to missions at home and around the world should be given above your tithes.

We believe that a church is a local assembly of baptized believers, under the discipline of the Word of God; organized to carry out the Great Commission to evangelize, to teach, and to administer the ordinances of believer’s baptism and the Lord’s table.

We believe that membership is a door of opportunity and a commitment to unity.  Your attendance and involvement is essential and commanded by God.  The discovery, development, and deployment of your spiritual gifts are necessary to build a healthy body of Christ.  The pursuit of full devotion to Christ and His cause is normal for every believer.

THE MISSION OF BIBLE BAPTIST CHURCH OF LONDON

To share the good news of Jesus Christ with our community and throughout the world.  To share with people how they can know for certain that they can have LIFE; eternal life and abundant life as a Christian.

THE VISION OF BIBLE BAPTIST CHURCH OF LONDON

To bring people to Jesus and MEMBERSHIP (fellowship) in His family, develop them to Christ like MATURITY (discipleship), and equip them for their MINISTRY (service) in the church and MISSION (evangelism) in the world, in order to MAGNIFY (worship) God’s name.

 “Start Something New” Church Covenant

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, we do now in the presence of God, angels, and the assembly, most joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.

We engage therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this Church, in knowledge, holiness and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines; to give it sacred preeminence over all institutions of human origin; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the Church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel though all nations.

We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excess anger; and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the Kingdom of our Savior.

We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, and mindful of the rule of our Savior to secure it without delay.

We moreover, engage that when we remove from this place we will as soon as possible unite with some other Church, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
